Attachment to the Tzadik is the basis and root of all Divine service and all holiness.

Although Rabbi Nachman has given us a great deal of goodness, through the fact that he has revealed to us extraordinary teachings, marvelous advice, stories that contain the entire Torah in a hidden way, fabulous reparations for each of us; nevertheless, the greatest thing for an individual is attachment to the True Tzaddik.

This is superior to anything the Tzaddik himself can give us as gifts. The greatest gift for a person is that he deserves to attach himself to the True Tzaddik.
