THE MITZVAH

The LORD said to Moses: “Speak to the children of Israel, that they make tassels ציצת on the corners of their garments.

Throughout their generations they shall put on the fringes of ציצת a blue thread.

These shall be for you fringes of ציצת; you shall see them, and remember all the commandments of the LORD.

You will accomplish them and you will not explore after your heart, nor after your eyes to which you are attracted."

The LORD said to Moshe: “Speak to the children of Israel, that they make tassels ציצת on the corners of their garments. You will see them and remember all the commandments of the LORD (...) and you will not explore after your heart, nor after your eyes on which you are drawn.” (Bamidbar, 15:37-38)

Our sages tell us that the mitzvah of wearing the Tsitsit is so important that wearing this garment at all times is tantamount to fulfilling the 613 mitzvot. (Guemara Nedarim)

He who is careful to observe the mitzvah of Tsitsit will enjoy the divine light in Gan Eden. (Talmud, Menahot 43b)
