Practical and spiritual guide to respecting the mitzvah
Wearing a Tsitsit T-shirt isn't just a comfortable piece of clothing: it's a spiritual endeavor that connects us to the mitzvah of tzitzit, a cherished commandment in Jewish tradition. Here's how to wear and honor your Tsitsit Azamra T-shirt, step by step.
1. Open the side zippers
On each side of the T-shirt, you'll find a discreet zipper, running from the bottom to the armpit. For the garment to be considered a true "four-cornered garment" according to halakha, it is imperative that both zippers be opened at least halfway, ideally all the way to the top.
Please note: If the zippers remain closed, the T-shirt does not fulfill its halachic function and the mitzvah of tzitzit is invalid. This is why this step is essential to fully fulfilling the commandment.
2. Take the tsitsit in hand
Once the closures are open, grasp the threads from the four corners, gathering the fringes in your hand. This gesture symbolizes a moment of spiritual connection and attention to the mitzvah you are about to fulfill.
3. Say the berakha (blessing)
With intention and concentration, recite the following blessing:
Baroukh Ata Ado-nay, Élo-hénou Mélèkh Haôlam, Achér Kidéchanou Bémitsvotaïv Vétsivanou Al Mitzvat Tsitsit.
(Blessed are You, O Lord our God, King of the universe, who has sanctified us with His commandments and commanded us concerning the commandment of tzitzit.)
Hide your tzitzit in the inside pockets for added security
For those who wish to remain discreet, particularly in the face of rising anti-Semitic acts, we have integrated interior pockets inside the T-shirt. These allow for the safe concealment of tzitzit without altering the mitzvah.
This option was designed to combine respect for halakha , discretion and personal security , so that everyone can wear their tsitsit with complete peace of mind , according to their context and sensitivity.
